The Lindsay Clancy trial has caused a lot of stir on social media, particularly Threads (my platform of choice). Interestingly but unsurprisingly, the ability to watch it live on CourtTV has led to a lot of speculation and misinformation spreading at lightning speed, instead of keeping the people informed of what the attorneys have found and are delivering as evidence and claims in court.
A lot of the misinformation being spread is from people twisting what is being said and shown in court to fit their own narratives. We cannot encourage you enough to watch it yourself without bias, and view it neutrally, to understand what actually happened instead of projecting a narrative onto it that none of the attorneys or witnesses in court are alluding to.
Below, we’ve provided links, where applicable, to the actual full testimonies from the trial so that you can view the evidence in question in context of the trial, without any biased editing to support any narratives.
What is Lindsay Clancy’s Defense?
The defense’s argument was stated in the defense attorney’s opening statement.
“Clancy, 36, does not deny she killed her children – Cora, 5; Dawson, 3; and 8-month-old Callan – in the family’s Duxbury home on January 24, 2023. But her attorney argues she should not be held criminally responsible because she was suffering from postpartum psychosis when she strangled them and then attempted to kill herself.” (CNN)

Massachusetts handles the “insanity defense” differently than most states. In other states, it’s called Not Guilty by Reason of Insanity (NGRI) and it’s considered an affirmative defense, meaning the burden of proof is on the defense to prove that the defendant did not understand their actions or the criminality of their conduct due to mental illness. In Massachusetts, it’s different. It is on the prosecution to prove that she did not have psychosis and was lucid and aware of her actions.
What’s not in question is whether or not she did it.
Insanity cases are very difficult to win. If Lindsay’s attorney, Kevin Reddington believed that someone else was responsible for the murders, he would not be choosing to fight for a defense of lack of criminality. He would be going after who was responsible.
Lindsay Clancy Filed a Civil Lawsuit, Where It Clearly Says She Did It
On page 2-3 of the civil lawsuit she is bringing against her doctors that she filed in January of 2026, it reads:
“As a direct result of Defendants’ negligence, Lindsay suffered catastrophic physical injuries, including permanent paralysis, and she lost her three beloved children […].
Lindsay now faces a lifetime of physical disability, psychological trauma, and the unbearable grief of waking up every day knowing she killed her children all of which could have been prevented had Defendants provided competent medical care.”
People are arguing that she “had to file this to meet the deadline of the statute of limitations. She can change the lawsuit based on the results of the criminal lawsuit.”
Let’s walk through that logic. There’s a three year statute of limitations for malpractice suits in MA. To prove malpractice, she’ll need to prove that the doctors breached their duty of care and that that breach caused injury that resulted in damages.
In this case, they clearly claim the damages are that their breach led her to kill her children and attempt to kill herself. If someone else killed her children and attempted to kill her, why would she have to file this lawsuit before the deadline of the statute of limitations for the day that someone else tried to kill her? What damages could she prove then if someone else was responsible for the damages?
Despite The Defense’s Claims of Responsibility, Social Media Thinks Patrick Clancy Did It
This has led to a lot of misinformation being spread, primarily supporting the theory that Patrick Clancy was the one that murdered the children and attempted to murder Lindsay. The misinformation being used as evidence of this claim ranges from Patrick Clancy getting married immediately after the event to someone claiming in my comments on Threads that Patrick changed his voice on the 911 call to pretend to be Lindsay in the background.
Let’s pause speculation for a moment, and look at the facts.
“Patrick Clancy Changed His Clothes at CVS.” Likely False
There are videos entered in at trial of Patrick Clancy at CVS and ThreeV allegedly while the events were transpiring. People claim that his jacket and shoes were changed at CVS, and this is somehow evidence that he was the one who committed the murders.
We’re using this video because despite it not being the direct and full video from the trial, and it is edited (so potentially biased), it does clearly show a side by side of the outfits, with a clear analysis of why there might be visual differences.
In this video, Vinnie Politan breaks down the outfit changes, and how it likely amounts to differing cameras, lighting, and contrast in the videos. As someone who personally deals with video editing and on the regular, this is a very simple solution and reason for the difference. Lighting can change color and contrast for scenes drastically, as can different cameras.

“Patrick Clancy’s DNA is the Only DNA on the Murder Weapons.” False
Many on social media have claimed that only Patrick Clancy’s DNA and fingerprints have been left on the murder weapons. This was addressed in court.
We’re referencing Politan’s video again, just for brevity. He shows the entirety of the clip necessary, and you can watch more or less if you’d like.
Generally, how something is held, how someone moves their hands on the item, and what type of residue is on their hands can affect what type of DNA or evidence they can leave behind on an item.
As far as his findings went, the knife used on Lindsay Clancy had partial prints, but there were not enough characteristics to properly compare it to anything.
In regards to this forensic expert, he clearly stated, “No, there was not enough to do [any comparison with].” Not enough information was found on the rubber exercise bands to identify anyone.
Another DNA expert testified as witness and the judge read off the agreed upon findings.
Each of the exercise bands showed potential contributors, including Lindsay and Patrick, to the bands that allegedly Lindsay Clancy used on her children and Patrick Clancy removed from the children, including the possibility of Lindsay’s DNA being contributed to the black band.
We believe there is some confusion in the very statistic-heavy presentation of the DNA findings, but the general idea is that Lindsay is not unlikely to be on the bands.
Patrick did knowingly handle the bands, which were his exercise bands to begin with, so his DNA presence is not surprising or notable.
And at the end of the day, it does not hold much weight if Patrick and/or Lindsay’s DNA or fingerprints were found on any of the items in their home that they would have regularly handled, as that would be normal and expected.
This information being spread around on social media is demonstratively fabricated and twisted and did not come from the actual trial.
“Patrick Clancy Got Re-Married 4 Months Later” False
Many people have dug into Patrick Clancy’s private life since the event, including his new marriage, and misinformation has swirled around that. Many are asserting that Patrick Clancy got re-married within 4 months or we’ve seen 18 months or similar.
The reality is that Patrick Clancy allegedly got married April 2026 of this year to Dr. Rachel Danis, three years later.
Since this is gossip, all we have are gossip magazine type sources to go off of, without doing a probative dive, ourselves, and our preference is to let the man have any privacy he has maintained through all of this. But People Magazine said:
“Patrick Clancy has suffered one of the worst tragedies that anyone could ever suffer. How that guy is not an emotional basketcase is beyond me, and he is trying hard to move on with his life. As the court is aware, they’re divorced, he’s remarried, he has a family,” Reddington said in court.
I’d like to point out that Reddington, despite having all of the evidence and information on the case, does not appear to hold any animosity towards Patrick Clancy and believes that he has suffered a great tragedy.
From sources we found online, it’s alleged that Patrick remarried this year, but we are not going to pull records to confirm that, again for their privacy.
“Patrick Clancy Said There Was Blood on the Walls When There Wasn’t” False
He said there was blood everywhere. Keep in mind when picking apart his testimony that this man went through unspeakable trauma that night and it was three years previously. Think back to a traumatic experience you had 3+ years ago. If you saw the amount of blood he saw splattered around his bedroom, would you not also describe it as “everywhere”?
In the video provided to the court during the trial, you can see that the blood is around the room in what could be described as “everywhere” by someone who is shocked and worried to see any amount of blood in his bedroom. We think this claim as evidence that Patrick Clancy is lying is weak. And it is misinformation to claim that Patrick claimed that blood was on the walls, as he never specifically stated that, from what we found.
“Patrick Stood Away From His Family in the Videos Shown in Court, Disengaged From His Family” Likely False
People are claiming that the video of the Clancy family out at a science exhibit at the Museum of Science shows Patrick Clancy disengaged from his family, leaving Lindsay Clancy alone to parent.
If you watch the full video, however, instead of what’s conveniently clipped up on TikTok and IG, the beginning of the video, you see him walk up and get in line. Then, through the video, he turns his body to watch and stay engaged with his family. Then towards the very end, he turns back and looks at the line to see if anything’s changed.

Patrick Clancy walks up pushing the stroller first, which he hands over to Lindsay while he takes Dawson to the bathroom. There are two lines in view, one for one station, and one for another. Lindsay begins waiting for one of the two stations. Then Patrick Clancy walks back in and gets in line for the other station at the back while Lindsay is at the station in the front with Cora and Callan. Dawson appears to be waiting for his turn. Patrick’s body language is not “stand-offish” or disengaged if you consider it in the context that he is waiting in line for a station on the other side of the room, but still turned towards his family.
Towards the end of the video, the part that always gets cut, conveniently, Patrick calls his middle child, Dawson to him at the second station, because it’s soon to be their turn. Unfortunately, a random child ran up and took it from them, so Patrick brought Dawson back to the exhibit his sister was playing with. He then proceeds to help Dawson with this exhibit.
Unfortunately, people have clipped up that video to twist it to their narratives, instead of viewing the evidence as it is.
